Scary Skinny!

Update from Brookings --

I read 'In Touch' magazine. It was about how Angelina, Jessica Alba and Renee Zell have lost too much weight. (Title above) Anyway, Angelina's friends and family are "begging" her to gain weight. She reportedly tried to eat a cheeseburger and "gave up after five bites." Things are in quotes because they're true.

I did it!

Temporary unemployment somehow brings out the shopper in me. Two big purchases in one week (and I still have to buy furniture):




Apparently I'm a maniac for big corporate-y purchases.

Stacey and I have participated in many meaningful activities throughout the summer months: getting our nails did, eating buckets of sushi (not all in one day), and having wine at the Corn Exchange. It's important for our local economy that we do these things. And, baby, I'll sure miss 'em.

Bronzed!

Saturday was my first triathlon at/around Angostura lake. Sort of. Jordan, mountain biking coach and Tera's cousin, agreed to do the biking for me. I swam the mile (apparently, it's typically to be accidentally attacked during the open-water frenzy). Jordan biked 26 miles. And I "ran" 6 miles. And we one second place in the team division. Sort of.

The team that took home the 2nd place medal cheated (well, their runner did). He was at least a mile behind me on the first leg and I never saw him on the second leg. When I crossed the finish line, he brushed it off and said, "Yeah...I didn't see you out there. I think I might've turned around at the wrong point. They should really mark the course better..."

Jordan and I didn't care. The fact that we nominally had 3rd place and literally deserved 2nd was ridiculous -- and testament to how few contestants there were!
